Thirty students from the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (CSSP) will graduate as summa cum laude in the University Graduation for the Batch of 2022 on July 31, Sunday.
The graduating UP Diliman batch posted a historic record as it produced 150 summa cum laudes this year as compared to 29 last year. Moreover, 634 cum laudes and 652 magna cum laudes will graduate as 1,436 students will finish their undergraduate degrees with Latin honors as confirmed by the University Council last July 20.
With 12 summa cum laudes, the Psychology department tops the CSSP tally while Philosophy and Linguistics come in second and third with six and five summas respectively.
Aside from accounting for twenty percent of summa cum laudes of this year’s graduating batch, another rare and historic feat achieved by the college this year is that all eight departments will have at least one summa cum laude graduate.
After two years of virtual graduations, a shift to blended graduation will be implemented this year. The College Graduation ceremony will be on July 30, Saturday, in front of the Palma Hall.
As UP produces another batch of graduates, the challenge remains for Konsensiya ng Bayan to use their honor and excellence to serve the people, especially against the ruling Marcos regime.
