Duterte on jetski promise: ‘Pure campaign joke’

“PURE CAMPAIGN JOKE”

President Rodrigo Duterte, called out for being #DuterteTraydor, lashes out on his critics for pointing out his broken campaign promise of riding a jetski in the West Philippine Sea to assert our sovereignty during his pre-recorded address to the nation tonight.

After offering yet another expletive, Duterte admitted that his jetski plan was only for “boasting and bravado.”

However, boasting and bravado will get the country nowhere if it is to successfully assert its sovereignty.

Throughout President Duterte’s term, he has repeatedly undermined the Philippines’ territorial claims on the West Philippine Sea by pivoting his foreign policy to China and spewing off consequential statements that compromise our claims on disputed territories and actual territories recognized by the international community.

Recently, Duterte was once again under fire for saying that the Philippines’ win against China in an international tribubal was only a useless “piece of paper” that can be easily discarded.

To cover up his treason—an impeachable offense—he is using the debate with retired Supreme Court Justice Carpio to conceal the real issues that Filipinos face—national sovereignty and livelihood.

As a result of his consistent pronouncements on the West Philippine Sea dispute over the past five years, Filipinos have branded the President as a national traitor.
