A fire broke out around 4:45 this morning, May 2, at Village A in Barangay UP Campus, Quezon City where an estimated 250 families, 700 individuals, and 88 houses were affected by the incident.Â
Eight deaths were confirmed while only six bodies have been recovered. Based on local residents, three minors died while three senior citizens of the five adults were also recorded casualties.
The fire, which reached up to the second alarm, was put under control around 6 a.m. and was declared out at 7 a.m. Its cause is yet to be determined and verified.
Several relief efforts are currently being conducted. Kariton ng Maralita Network (KMN), together with Kalingang Village A, organized a community kitchen earlier today for residents who have yet to have their meals when the incident occurred.
Residents are asking for milk (for babies), drinking water, rice, canned goods, and maintenance medicine and vitamins.
