At a time when attacks by state forces are hampering press freedom, the delivery of militant journalism by various campus publications to expose the reality of the national situation becomes even more crucial. Furthermore, calls to defend press freedom now ring truer and with more urgency.
In the past months, SINAG, the official student publication of the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (CSSP), saw unjustified reporting negatively affect its presence and reach on social media. SINAG has attempted more than twice to revive and revamp its platforms to maintain its consistent coverage of issues necessary to be exposed and addressed. For instance, the publication has resorted to creating a third but temporary page on Facebook to ensure that low reach and reduced distribution will not impact its election coverage.
Meanwhile, the publication has worked to strengthen its presence online through other means. SINAG is now actively propagating critical and comprehensive articles through its website: https://csspsinag.wordpress.com.
Standing firm with its brand of mass-oriented journalism, SINAG will continue its history of seeking out the truth and holding those in power accountable.
The publication is also currently opening applications for staffers who wish to engage themselves in a critical, mass-oriented, and militant brand of journalism and enjoin the people to take collective action. SINAG is looking for writers, graphic designers, photographers, video editors, and web administrators. Contributions are welcome as well.
