Royeca Memorial Hospital (DJPRMH) in General Santos are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rappler.com\/nation\/nurses-in-diapers-general-santos-hospital-workers-look-for-work-elsewhere?fbclid=IwAR2_OJcoFdNozDlt5Aj-pAk3ynpDWKIh88fALsrLGZRDZW849fvyB1vX6X8\">made to wear diapers<\/a> due to an imposition of a no bathroom break policy to cut costs in personal protective equipment (PPE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sinag.press\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/jake.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sinag.press\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/jake.png?w=547\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2107\" width=\"77\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Nurses and healthcare workers\u2019 (HCW) working conditions continue to worsen as COVID-19 cases skyrocket due to the Delta variant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Philippines\u2019 total cases previously breached the 2-million mark earlier this month which brought an overwhelming upsurge of COVID-19 inpatients. According to the Department of Health\u2019s latest data drop, the country tallies 2, 304, 192 total cases.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the country\u2019s hospital capacities reach their maximum, HCWs bear the brunt of the government\u2019s bungled pandemic response.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stories of patients dying before receiving hospital accommodation have rampantly spread online that the administration can no longer fool the country that it has done something good at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMany of them said we were already the eighth or ninth hospital they tried, and if it were up to me, I really would have taken them in,\u201d said Dr. Gio Pineda, in an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2021\/4\/19\/for-kate-patients-die-as-covid-overwhelms-philippine-hospitals\">Al Jazeera<\/a>. \u201cBut there really was no room left.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government has been known for imposing confusing lockdown hybrids with little to no difference among each other despite its irrational provisions such as curfews and inability to return home once curfew strikes. Aside from that, Duterte also remains stupidly steadfast in mandating the use of face shields despite experts\u2019 comments on its<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rappler.com\/nation\/tale-covid-19-pandemic-face-shields-costly-overstocked-unauthorized-government-buys\"> redundancy and insignificance<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A group of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rappler.com\/nation\/health-workers-walk-out-jobs-mass-protests-duque-september-1-2021\">HCWs also previously staged a protest<\/a> in front of DOH last September 1 demanding the resignation of Health Secretary Francisco Duque and the immediate release of their long-overdue and hard-earned COVID-19 benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reports of numerous health care workers\u2019 resignations have frequently surfaced as their working conditions become a death-defying battle in the face of a raging public health crisis with no clear, scientific, and humane response from the administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nurses in Dr. Jorge P. Royeca Memorial Hospital (DJPRMH) in General Santos are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rappler.com\/nation\/nurses-in-diapers-general-santos-hospital-workers-look-for-work-elsewhere?fbclid=IwAR2_OJcoFdNozDlt5Aj-pAk3ynpDWKIh88fALsrLGZRDZW849fvyB1vX6X8\">made to wear diapers<\/a> due to an imposition of a no bathroom break policy to cut costs in personal protective equipment (PPE).
