Reminders from the Office of the College Secretary (OCS) were also relayed to the graduating students.

LOOK: http://bitly.ws/pSse

Graduation reminders from the OCS

Aspiring graduates with Latin honors are reminded to double-check for unpaid semesters, particularly those with Leave of Absence (LOA). Underloaded semesters—a minimum of 15 units until AY1920, second semester, and a minimum of 12 units for AY2021, first semester onwards—were also asked to be looked into.

Those with Latin honors are highly encouraged not to obtain an INC this semester especially if underloaded (less than 12 units). If ever, graduates will have to stay for another semester and will not be qualified for Latin honors.

Students are also reminded to resolve emails raising their remaining deficiencies (missing GEs, electives, and prerequisites) before May since the OCS will be occupied with processing next academic year’s Freshies, Shiftees, and Transferees.

If no email was received, the OCS clarified that students do not have any deficiencies to resolve.

For other concerns including certifications for law or med school applications, students may contact the OCS at ocs_cssp@up.edu.ph.

Additionally, the following relevant dates must be taken note of:

May 17: Last day for graduating students to clear their deficiencies

June 13: Deadline for grade submission

July 30: CSSP Recognition Ceremony

July 31: University Graduation Ceremony

Academic concerns

The basis for Latin honors is the total Curriculum Weighted Average (CWA) or the grades in the curriculum-prescribed subjects and qualified electives or any credited subjects.

To be eligible for Latin honors, students must have obtained the following minimum CWA, which is not rounded off:

Summa Cum Laude: 1.20

Magna Cum Laude: 1.45

Cum Laude: 1.75

Accordingly, graduating students must complete their INC requirements before the date of submission of grades on June 13.

Students with missing requirements (thesis, papers, etc…) must secure a Completion Permit from the OCS to be given to the professor for the date of completion. Also, students will have to pay P20 to take missed examinations.

The OCS, however, notes that it is possible to receive Latin honors despite having 5.00 as long as the total CWA meets the required grade.

Those who have taken more electives than prescribed by the curriculum are usually credited chronologically.

The OCS also reassured that there will be no problem in the crediting of units despite cognate changes. The program adviser must be informed and that the student has no deficiencies.

LOOK: http://bitly.ws/pSxF

The OCS is currently cooperating with the Office of University Registrar (OUR) and the Institute of Mathematics to address the concerns of the students who have received an email about Math 20 or Math 17. The OCS stated that the email is just a notice or a heads up; an update will be sent once the OUR gives a directive.

Recognition Ceremony and graduation concerns

CSSP is open to having face-to-face ceremonies. However, the College Executive Board (CEB) meeting last Thursday, March 31, raised some considerations on health protocols, alert level, vaccination status, those who cannot attend, venue, students’ expenses, and accommodations for students and their families from the provinces.

The CEB noted that the University Theater, the usual venue, is currently under renovation. The Sunken Garden, although considered, is posited to not be a good venue since the possibility of rain is high given that the ceremony will be held in July.

Should there be no changes in the current situation, the CEB hopes for a hybrid graduation. To better assess the situation of graduating students and raise possible concerns on said considerations, a survey on the conduct of an F2F ceremony will soon be released.

The OCS is also considering including graduates from virtual Sablay 2020 and 2021 to the possible in-person Sablay 2022. However, the limited capacity of the possible venues is being considered.

The OCS is also contemplating the CSSP Student Council’s (CSSP SC) proposal to have an alumni representative included in the Graduation Committee. If approved, the CSSP SC will be recommending the student and alumni representatives to the committee.

Sablay 2022 includes Midyear 2021, AY2122 First Semester, and AY2122 Second Semester. Midyear 2022 and AY2223 First Semester will be for the next graduation batch.

Students may request a schedule with the OCS to receive their diplomas and medals after graduation. However, the Board of Regents (BOR) still has to approve the graduation before the OCS and OUR can process students’ clearance.

SULÔ grad shoot and yearbook concerns

The Grad Shoot will be done in Zone 5 Photo Studios, Project 8, Quezon City.

The studio generally discouraged students from bringing companions due to health protocols. If truly necessary, students may inform SULÔ, through its Facebook page, or the respective department coordinator ahead of time.

The SULÔ Executive Board will be announcing its decision regarding a printed DIY shoot and its pricing.

Nonetheless, if impossible to attend but still wishes to be included in the yearbook, students may have a DIY shoot and submit them for editing, for uniformity purposes, for P400.

The CSSP SC reminded that graduating students shall receive a confirmation email from the SULÔ Executive Board after filling out the subscription form.

If students want to change one’s package or add additional services, they may coordinate with SULÔ’s Facebook page or their respective department coordinator.

If students have not received the confirmation email and for other concerns, students may also contact SULÔ or CSSP SC STRAW Committee and view SULÔ’s official website for FAQs.

CSSP SULÔ 2022 Facebook Page: http://fb.com/sulocssp
CSSP SULÔ 2022 Website: http://sulo22.reprozone5.com
CSSP STRAW Committe: straw.csspsc@gmail.com

Graduating students from the Department of Linguistics and the Department of Psychology have separate yearbooks — Rosetta and Mandala, respectively.
