The department voting data has yielded interesting tensions and differences between the departments. Abstentions have started gaining significant ground, both in more apathetic (Kas) and more polarized departments (Psych, Geog, Socio). While the outlay definitely makes obvious the impact of Psych and PolSc on the results, the Councilor spots appear to be well-distributed throughout, with most Councilors of all kinds topping their own respective departments.

Anthropology SAL

Anthro votes in SALiGAN sa CSSP across the board, with all four of their Councilors earning the top spots with over 57% of the vote and the chairship and vice chairship netting a 75% win. BUKLOD CSSP struggled to rile up barely 25% of the department for theirs, though only BUK Matandac would have lost the post to abstentions for the department.

SAL Dumo receives over 90% support from the department, both from undergrads and graduate students, with only a small slice of abstentions.

Geografia SAL

Geog locks out BUKLOD CSSP entirely with a 20% abstention rate for the Councilorships, with only SALiGAN sa CSSP and Independent candidates getting positions. SAL Gaspar tops the Councilorships with supermajority support, while the other SALiGAN sa CSSP candidates enjoy majority support as well, with only their standard-bearers falling just short.

SAL Galzote weathers a very different storm from SAL Dumo with over a third of votes being abstentions. However, they still handily win the position with over 65% of votes.

Geog ▶

Kasaysayan

Kas largely levees abstentions for its vote, with the chair, vice chair, and six of the seven Councilor posts remaining entirely vacant. While without these abstentions, BUKLOD CSSP would have netted their posts (lightly hinted by BUK Pascua being the sole councilor candidate able to outpace abstentions), it appears the department is left wanting.

IND Silerio also loses to abstentions, netting only 35% of votes. While graduate students appear to support his bid, undergraduates in the department strongly oppose his candidacy and elect to have no department representative instead.

Linguistics SAL

The Lingg landscape seems strongly competitive. While SALiGAN sa CSSP managed to eke out many wins, the ties in the Councilorships, especially for the top spot may hint a break from the past several years. It remains to be seen if such close vote counts are an anomaly or something more.

The Linguistics department representative position, too, was contested by both parties this year, with SAL Gojo Cruz winning over 55% of votes against BUK Lagunilla's bid. Only 4 abstentions were registered for the position and no graduate students from the department voted.

Philosophy

Philo votes red with SALiGAN sa CSSP's candidates netting the top two posts, though, unlike Geog, grants BUKLOD CSSP's councilor-candidates the rest of the seats.

With no running candidate for the department representative post, it stands vacant post-elections. With contact between the Council and the department limited, it may fall to the Council's USC Representative from Philo to find a way to reach their constituents there. It remains to be seen if someone else will try to take the post in the upcoming CSSP SC 2024 Special Elections.

Political Science IND

Ever the mixed bag, PolSc leads with BUKLOD CSSP for its chair and vice chair but carries upwards many SALiGAN sa CSSP councilor candidates, with the BUKLOD CSSP councilor candidates, save for BUK Pascua, left a little behind. The department continues its support of Independent candidates with IND Cruz netting 70% of votes and IND Guevarra winning the department representative posts.

IND Guevarra wins his uncontested post with 64% of votes. However, similar to SAL Galzote, he faces a significant number of abstentions, especially in a department so big. It will be imperative to examine what doubts PolSc students have of him throughout his term.

Psychology BUK

Psych retains its status as BUKLOD CSSP's stronghold, with SALiGAN sa CSSP entirely unable to net a single post under the department's votes. With the magnitude of the department's size, along with PolSc, it has shown that it, even largely on its own, can influence top positions. Despite this, however, it was unable to stymie SALiGAN sa CSSP's presence atop the collegewide councilorship results.

The Psychology department representative post continues as BUKLOD CSSP's stronghold, with both slots remaining largely uncontested with both candidates earning over 70% of the vote. While the non-votes imply some Psych students only have faith in one or the other, they both earned exactly the same number of votes in their wins.

Sociology SAL

Socio mirrors much of Geog's results, with BUKLOD CSSP also unable to net a seat under the department's votes. SAL Patawaran nets an even more extreme 80% win in her home department, while even BUK Matandac, BUKLOD CSSP's best-performing councilor, can't reach half of the 20% abstention rate in the department.

SAL Ybera handily earns their position with over 88% of votes, with few abstentions. With Sociology growing, now the College's fourth largest department, it remains to be seen how they will handle their position, even with such overwhelming support.
