Raoul Manuel is KPL’s first nominee

Kabataan Partylist, the sole youth party-list in the Congress, selects Raoul Manuel to be the first nominee for the upcoming 2022 national and local elections.

Raoul Manuel served as the former UP Student Regent, former President of National Union of Students of the Philippines (NUSP) and Convenor for Rise for Education (R4E) and YANAT.

Last 2019, Manuel had a heated exchange with Senator Bato dela Rosa in a hearing regarding the Mandatory ROTC bill wherein he openly criticized the senator for allowing the release of the convicted ex-mayor Antonio Sanchez.

In a tweet, he expressed how this upcoming election is a way of representing the voices of the all Filipino youth and their ongoing clamor for change.

“Ang laban natin ay laban ng bawat kabataan at Pilipinong naghahangad ng ligtas na pagbubukas ng mga paaralan, abot-kayang edukasyon, maayos na pandemic response, marangal na trabaho, at disenteng oportunidad sa bansa. “

KPL also nominated RJ Ledesma from KPL-Negros, Jayvie Cabajes from KPL-SMR, and Jianred Faustino from KPL-ST. Faustino is the UPLB University Student Council Treasurer, and was the former president of UP Chi Epsilon Sorority.

Other nominees were Jandeil Roperos from NUSP, Angelica Galimba from KPL-Ilocos and the former regional coordinator of Youth Act Now Against Tyranny.

KPL has actively campaigned for the promotion of the Filipino youth’s rights and has consistently upheld the interests of the masses. The partylist has crafted RA No. 11466 which seeks to increase the minimum salaries of public school teachers and government employees, and is pushing for HB00326 which aims to promote “comprehensive free public tertiary education.”
